In Paris, in the metro system, they've started making announcements in Chinese. Wait till China and India end up being the biggest economies in the world and you'll see how relevant Asia can be.

Asia SHOULD be more relevent. The people there are huge in number, intelligent, powerful. The Western world will realize eventually lol.

I think in the US they focus on Europe more because they're of European descent (well, the white people, who are the ones with all the power and influence in that country, are).

It's a white men's world so obviously our society is Eurocentric. But let's not act like the older Asians give a f*** about European culture and politics. A lot of young Asians are obsessed with American culture and media but there are still many that don't care about the white world.

I love Asian culture. My hubby has been teaching me about Chinese history.
I still have some issues trying to pronounce / spell names tho.

For the world, it's very relevant. For me, it's really not. I would love to visit someday, though.
That being said the US is a country founded by Europeans so what do you expect? They'll touch upon it in history class, but mainly European culture will be most relevant there.

Asian culture is very very important and I wished they taught more about it in my country (Hungary) too.

America is pressed with Asia and vice versa. Now that I think about it I cant remember a time when I learned about Asian history, I only remember learning about North/South American and European history in school. 6th grade was basically my only World History class, and we only got as far as the Middle East.

What? There's a huge difference between America and Europe. American culture is a joke compared to European culture. But that's an old fight.

But that's an interesting thread. Made me think and I don't know anything about asian culture except some movies and mangas/anime and other new-age trends like Cosplay

They said the same thing about Japan. China already is the biggest economy but they are not the biggest power or even close to it.
