Wouldn't make a difference if most jobs filled are in the fast-food industry, and same category of poverty line. We should be looking not only at the unemployment rate, but also the distribution of income.

It doesn't say the quality and wage of the jobs. Being a news director at a local TV station pays less than the tips in a bar. Thus people with college degrees fled into the bars, restaurants,... to be able to pay the bills and the people who used to work there are pushed lower.

If we educate the immigrants so they have greater opportunities they'll be coming for those jobs too. The more educated immigrants are, they less jobs there will be for educated Americans, who will be pushed down into lower wage jobs.
