Joan Rivers Excluded from Oscars In Memoriam Montage
It’s an unfortunate, yet inevitable, Oscars occurrence: Every year, without fail, someone is left out of the “In Memoriam” sequence.
This year’s offensive exclusion appears to be the late, great Joan Rivers, whose absence from the montage sent the Twitterverse into an immediate tizzy, and rightfully so.
The response from Melissa Rivers regarding the omission of her mom from the Oscars 'In Memoriam’ tribute: "It would have been nice, especially considering the impact she had on the awards season, but Cooper and I have been overwhelmed with support and love over my mom's passing and we choose to focus on that."
I guess the Oscars don't respect vile, cheap, comedians.
She was much more than just some comedian. She broke boundaries for women in her field for decades and has had significant impact on comedy in general. Do your homework.
They probably thought her biggest contribution was on TV (but come on: the red carpet), so they cut her out.
But when they include Gabriel García Márquez, her omission does seem suspect...
