Which kind of car do you drive, a manual or an automatic? Also, do you hold a license permitting you to drive both? Or not?

You don't need a license to drive both as far as I know.

I drive a manual and love it, would never go back to an automatic.

In the UK, you have to own a manual license to drive a manual car, if you learn to drive and pass in an automatic, your license doesn't permit usage of a manual car, I assumed it was the same worldwide?

Nope. Many Americans at least never have and never will drive a manual. The majority drive automatics. Our license lets us drive both, just manuals are not popular.

I live in the U.S. and we don't have to have a separate license for a regular car. We do require a different license for a commercial vehicle I believe.

I could see the need for a manual license though. They are difficult to learn and operate. I stalled so many times learning

I think I have only once and I'm 22. And that's just because our main home car was a '95 manual Civic for years but this was before I was old enough to drive.

My car is automatic but I can drive manual as well.

Our family has 2 cars, one with a stick and one automatic. Both of my parents can, and prefer to, drive manual (which is rare).

As for me, I'm not close to getting a license. I've practiced very basic driving with an automatic though.
