Automatic transmission, easily (no pun intended). Why would the average person want to wrestle or struggle with shifting just to go to work, or go to the store from some groceries?

How is it cheating for a transmission to shift gears/speeds on its own?

What am I trying to prove or who am I trying to impress by taking pride in driving, or being able to drive, a manual transmission when automatics exist?
This is sort of like comparing a stove or a microwave (automatic) with being able to start a fire with rocks or sticks the
old-fashioned way (manual). Or music made with synthesizers and computers (automatic) versus music made with actual instruments (manual). It's not like you can walk into a forest and pluck either one off of a tree anyway. Car snobs are like music snobs.
Manuals may be easier to fix (if you're a mechanic) and they may cost less and be more fuel-efficient. But If you are making the money to afford an automatic, why not? Why make, or keep, things (like life in general) harder than they need to be? The majority of people buying and driving automatic is one thing about America I do prefer over Europe. Have fun crippling your legs and feet with that clutch. Hope you don't have much traffic or narrow turns where you live.
