I was shocked by this, as many critics and fans declared these albums as "dark" (not sad)
Here is what critics say and Gaga herself, not ATRL users:

Gaga said that this record is about fears
"Gaga's icy aloofness and seeming aversion to a genuine human connection leave a disturbing void. With an avant-garde intellect, pop-electro eccentricities and freaky theatrics competing for attention, there's no room for heart." - isn't it dark?
"Musically, The Fame Monster is a pop album with influences of.....industrial and gothic music"
Bad Romance:
Gaga said "What I'm really trying to say is I want the deepest, darkest, sickest parts of you that you are afraid to share with anyone"
So Happy I could die, the song that was said to be "happy" by some user
Bradley Stern of MuuMuse: "He went on to describe its music and lyrics as "dark" while also calling the song "[m]inimal and moody""

The only "happy" song is obviously Telephone, which is still about "fear of suffocation as she felt that she seldom found time to just let loose and have fun." The video depicts Gaga and Bey killing local citizens by poisoning food

In what world? Lyrically it is (as said above) but every song is so poppy.
