Jennifer Lawrence Will Take ‘The Dive’ With Her ‘Hunger Games’ Director and James Cameron
20th Century Fox has tapped Oscar Winner Jennifer Lawrence to star in biopic “The Dive,” with her “Hunger Games” helmer, Francis Lawrence, set to direct.
James Cameron will produce through his Lightstorm Entertainment banner along with Rae Sanchini and Barry Josephson.
Dana Stevens penned the script.
Pic is based on the true story of free-divers Francisco “Pipin” Ferreras and his wife Audrey Mestre, who competed to travel as deeply as possible underwater on a single breath of air.
Lawrence will play Mestre, who died during an attempt to beat her own world record of 557.7 feet. Ferraras paid tribute to his late wife by diving to the same depth in an attempt that was filmed by Cameron.
It’s unknown when Lawrence would shoot the film as the actress is about to begin work on another biopic, “Joy (David O. Russell ) which starts lensing next month.

Francisco Rodriguez, better known as Francisco 'Pipin' Ferreras (born January 18, 1962) is a Cuban free-diver renowned for his achievements in deep free diving and the strong allegations of murdering his wife, Audrey Mestre.
it's a fact he did not fill up her lift tank with air, the question is whether he forgot intentionally or accidentally
