With SmackDown moving to Thursday nights next week, WWE wants to make it a ‘can’t miss’ show again. One major idea that has been seriously talked about is a ‘soft’ brand split, where some WWE Superstars—not all—would be exclusive to Raw or SmackDown.

“WWE officials are working out the details on this proposed idea and it should be known soon whether they will actually go through with it.”

SmackDown should be a platform for cruiserweights, tag teams and upcoming talent, like it used to be 10 years ago.

Don't really want to lose any major talent to the inferior show though. Maybe it won't even happen but we'll see.

Finally, omg.

Cesaro would perhaps benefit from the brand extension.

I can't think of any other struggling superstar that deserves more airtime.

In 2010 was the last time they had a brand split, in 2011 they reunited it as the same lame show!

I honestly don't know how this is gonna work with almost all the titles being unified.

- United States Title
- Intercontinental Title
- WWE Tag Team Titles
- Divas Title

I could see the WWE title staying on Raw because Raw is the flagship show. Same with the Divas title. I don't know about the others.

In 2011, they started naming Raw "Supershow" and that included having SD talent compete on Raw and vise versa. They since dropped the Supershow name but it's still implied today.
