The reason why core hip hop fans (men) listened to Nicki on Monster and very little anywhere else, is because simply, you arent making music that the average rap fan wants to hear. Sorry, I don't agree with anything. It does not matter what kind of taste you have and I would never call her music Barbie ****. First and foremost this is about people starting to respect her because she was rapping together with 2 famous dicks. It's about the props! No one gives her the respect she does until she does all these collabs.

I'll say this. She isn't saying anything that hasn't been said before. However, she's saying it to an audience that might have not heard it before so I get her position.

That said, it's weird because she knows ALL she did to portray and still portray a certain image that would make a misognystic consumer justified in their believes.
We are not talking about someone that didn't play into certain roles to get eyes popping instead of focusing on serving magic to their ears to command their respect.

When she hits...it's amazing but when she misses it's underwhelming.

It's kind of like if Lauryn made a lot of bad songs after TMOLH it would just take away from all the amazingness of that album and even the Fugees.

I'll say this. Kim's delivery of raunch was more convincing. I think Nicki's is more flirty and it's cute but it's kind of just there.

I'd agree with this if it wasn't for her first studio album and TPP. Don't act like Lil Kim, Missy , and Eve didn't incorporate pop with their music and didn't have to create some kind of act to sell their music. As for Lauryn Hill, Congrats for her.

she has credibility it's just more instead of being respected as a lyricist and a role model people are more or less just respecting her hustle and business savvy.
I really think that back in teh day you could count on Lauryn, Kim, Eve, Missy, Salt n pepa etc. to serve the goods. They weren't one dimensional but they were not as hit or miss in an extreme way.

Nicki's music can be very hit or miss with very little middle ground and her image was so polarizing.
I think that she should have more credibility than she has but if her music was more hit and less miss she'd have that.
Her iggy shade is not much different that her kim shade. All passive. Selling wolf tickets. Bark no bite and showing insecurities. If everyone is your son than you don't need to do the little passive stuff...you just know you are the queen. I think it's just Kim was past her prime and Kim wasn't smart enough to understand that she was past her prime and not in any position to do more than 2 interviews about the BTS stuff and just release dope music.
With iggy, she's getting opportunities that Nicki had to struggle more to get but Nicki open doors however had doors open for her and didn't respect it so now she sees someone able to get #1s and crossover without doing nearly as much work as she had to do. So the shade is harboring frustration but for Iggy it's because she is getting things quicker with less work and with Kim its because she knows she relied on Kim heavily as an influence but fell into feeling the need to take her out and it did'n't help that Kim was spreading the tea of BTS stuff.

Yeah she rarely says anything that isn't new BUT she's speaking to an audience that probably hasn't heard it so I get it.
She is riddled with many excuses and the barbz co sign it. She really doesn't take accountability but you are right...she is a bit too hit or miss for people to say I KNOW she will serve good music.
Even many fans have acknowledged that her new album is a solid effort but by no means exceptional or a classic which is a shame because she's in a position to do something major and she kind of just does good and not great overall. I do hope that she serves that classic album round 4 or 5
