So i was reading these articles that mostly have two sides which is Gay bars/clubs should be all inclusive and the other one is that gay bars/clubs should be a place for gay people come to enjoy themselves, feel safe to express themselves, flirt with people they like without the "i'm straight" answer that we usually get and to not feel like a zoo animal that straight people come to see, stare at and be shocked about some things.

I am kind of lost about my view on this coz I kinda understand both, I mean I myself sometimes go to the Marais (the gay district) in Paris and go to a gay bar with a straight girl friend but I also understand why even i wouldn't want to hit on someone (which i really don't usually) and get an answer "yo i'm straight wtf"

What do you think?

all inclusive, it's a club where you should be able to go and have fun with your friends no matter what orientation/colour/gender they are. gays don't get banned from straight clubs so the idea of it is completely reductive and hypocritical

also how would you feel if you were both straight and a good sis, and just wanted to hear work bitch and perform the full video choreography for your friends while singing along like a fierce mommy bitch?? u would have to go to the gay club and it's not fair to stop people having harmless fun

I am on both sides of this issue. I can see why some people might be annoyed if there are too many straight people in what is supposed to be a gay bar. The reason gay bars exist is because every bar that isn't explicitly a gay bar is usually a straight bar. Straight guys get all offended and bent out of shape if a gay guy hits on them and want to fight. People have been shot for hitting on a straight guy. Plus the girls who go to gay bars go because they don't want to be hit on by straight guys.

Gay clubs/bars are accepting bars, which attract more gays to them. They shouldn't be all inclusive, and if you think should be, you're as ignorant as the people who think that we shouldn't be able to marry.

Gays have more fun, let the straights enjoy the better things in life.

As a straight, I have been on both a Gay Bar and a Gay Club. The bar was enjoyable and I see myself going again, but thanks god I went to the club with my girlfriend at that time club experience left me scarred for life
I vote for the inclusiveness tho.

All should be allowed unless they have the audacity to complain about someone of the same sex hitting on them when they're attracted to the opposite sex. My straight girl friends complain about girls hitting on them at gay bars and I'm literally like well then don't go to one you ****ing idiot... it's as if they put "explore gay bars" on their bucket lists and wanna seem edgy/cool.

And obviously anyone that even demonstrates the slightest prejudice against gay people should not be allowed in gay clubs either, cause as someone in here already said gay clubs are places where gay people should be allowed to escape discrimination and be free etc. If straight people don't want to celebrate that freedom then they can **** off out of here.

Straights should be allowed to come to gay clubs but they need to come correct, if a straight guy goes to a gay club and gets offended when he gets hit on then he is obviously an idiot.

I mean it's not like straights are going to be shocked and surprised if they get hit on at a gay bar, it's hardly going to be the classic "wtf queer? F off!" sort of reaction so much as the awkward "umm I'm actually straight" scenario and you feeling like a fool, but you shouldn't - it's a gay bar after all. Just be like "oh, bye".

I went with my straight girl bestie and her boyfriend (who is such a rugged, handsome hunk ) and honestly a minute in the bar trying to order a drink and this like 35yr old came and triedT it with him and he was so awkward and my friend I were cackling like anything.

Agreed 100%. If you are straight and at a gay bar the only reason should be if a non-straight person invited you there with them. Otherwise, stay the **** out. You have literally the entire world to yourself, gay bars and clubs are the ONE environment where we can feel like we're not being looked at differently and judged. Please do not pollute it, straight people. Stick to your own bars. And **** that "but we're all the same! everyone should hang out with everyone!" ******** mentality. We are NOT all the same, that's the whole point, we are very different and like having sex and fall in love with different people, and we want a space where we don't have to feel like a minority and not have to second guess kissing or holding hands or dancing close or whatever.

If we were talking about "straight-only bars" then yes, I'd totally see your point, but considering gays are the persecuted minority it's not really comparable.

I mostly agree with this. You're a little bit more impassioned about it than I am but I do agree that there are reasons gay clubs and bars exist and if straight people (even if gay-friendly) are hanging out there it largely defeats most of those reasons.

I don't begrudge straights who go to gay bars/clubs with gay friends, though.

I have two friends who love going to this one particular gay bar in Toronto. They started going when they lived in Australia with one of their roommates and it just carried over when they came back.

The guy Brad probably loves going more than his fiancée cause he's got a perfect bear look to him and people really gravitate towards both of them cause they have really great personalities and when Brad makes gay jokes it's in the same way I would with my own gay friends I would never think it's mean or malicious.

There's this one gay dance bar/drag bar in Toronto called Crews and Tango that's pretty much right down the middle gender wise on weekends. Right near the drag stage, usually its a mix of 25% gay guys and 75% bachelorettes/birthday girls. As much as I'm for all inclusiveness, the truth is the girls usually ruin the atmosphere of the gay bar. And I know a lot of them (especially with the drag queens) treat it like a zoo.

This hot self described bottom was at the bar this weekend with all of his girlfriends, and every gay in the room was trying to get a piece of him. Only if his girlfriends weren't all crowding around in a circle around him, they we're being the most obnoxious **** blocks the whole night.
