A public-service ad campaign in Florida, which depicts African American children in bulletproof vests, is urging voter participation to encourage the election of candidates who support repeal of the state’s stand-your-ground gun law.

Pretty much the equivalent of telling girls to cover up if they don't want to get raped.

Stand Your Ground is a good law though. They just need to fix it! Why should people have to retreat if they are attacked?

Me and my mom want to go to New York and my mom wanted to buy bullet proof vests for us as well to wear she said she won't go otherwise.

they banned guns in the UK and the school shootings dropped to non existent. Idk why they don't do this for america

Gun lobbyists fund our congress. It's a sick and nasty cycle.

Doesn't the US build nearly all of the weapons that are destroying the world?

I guess the US weapons industry is so huge that they're worried about the effects on the economy if they started to shut it down.

Don't ever be under the illusion that the government is more interested in protecting human lives than it is in preserving the economy. I'm not judging them - I don't know enough about how the world economy works to say what the effects of a failed economy would perhaps be on human lives on a greater scale.

Everything has a lobby sick and nasty my ass. Sorry to burst your bubble but most Americans support gun rights. In fact the support is increasing in recent years and so have gun rights!

I'm taking business and im sure the collapse of the gun industry wouldnt do much damage, the tobacco industry on the other hand (worth multiple times more) could - plus the rising tax on tabacco should compensate to a degree.

At the end of the day if they did follow in the steps of the UK gun ban then they could just model what the UK did to level off instabilities.
