I don't think so imo. If I had the choice to save a human or an animal if they were both in danger I would probably be more tempted to save the animal only if the human in danger was an emotional or physical threat to others. What would you do in that situation and if you chose the human, why do you think human life is more important?

Hmm...what do you consider an animal?
An insect is an animal, yet we swap away flies and mosquitoes so many times throughout our lives.
Hell, what about cockroaches or ants? Do you just let them be if you ever see one in your house or do you drown those ****ers in Raid?

Remember, animals just aren't the ones you think are cute.

No. Animals are relatively defenseless, against humans at least, for the most part. They're innocent creatures, unlike mankind.

At the end of the day, we're just another species of animal, so what makes us more special than any other species? Nothing. We're not worth more than other species just because we walk the earth and call it ours.

That's the thing. Can we hold a life of a mean and hateful human as more important than an animal who doesn't intentionally cause harm?

That's relative though.
I remember a professor asking if we would burn a bag of puppies for a $1 million and everyone said no. Then he asked if we would burn a bag of cockroaches for $1 million and majority said yes. If you are in support of animal rights (the same way someone would support human rights), it's going to have to go for all animals (and all humans). You can't just pick and choose which animals deserve a right and which ones don't.
