All life matters. But yes, I think human life is ultimately more important. If I had to pick between saving a random human and a random animal drowning, I'd pick the human each time

No. In certain ways, I think animal life is more important than human life. It's our duty to protect them, prevent them from becoming extinct, take care of them, etc.

animals form very different kind of "bonds" and yes do have emotions but are limited. If a human female gives birth to a deformed paralyzed baby she will take care of it regardless because she has unconditional love for it. whilst with animals it has been proven that if the baby is weak they get shunned or even abandoned by thir mothers because animals do NOT form the same bonds and do NOT have the same emotional capabilities.

this is why most sane humans would save a humans life over an animals life.

Well we are animals. Maybe if stopped thinking we're special we'd be able to respect the world we live in. Our relationship with the natural world is deplorable. We've destroyed more than we've maintained. It's because of our egos.

We're actually not that important to the ecosystem...unlike for instance sharks, frogs, whales, wolves, spiders and bees.

I'm all for animal rights and against animal cruelty, but in a life or death situation I would obviously choose to save the human, you know the one that's someone's son or daughter, someone's mom or dad, someone's wife or husband, someone's brother or sister?. The other animal's death would be sad, but clearly the survival of my own species takes precedence, like why is this even being discussed?

No I don't think human life is more important but if I had to save between a human or an animal it would be a human because I would be more inclined to save my own species.
