MARIAH CAREY has cancelled her 2009 tour as speculation heightens that she is expecting her first child
The singer, who has been dogged by rumours she is several months pregnant, today axed the concerts planned for next year.
A source told the New York Daily News: "Costume designers and dancers were all called on Wednesday and
told the tour is off. "Most were hysterically crying because they were relying on her for a pay cheque this holiday season."
But a representative for Carey said although a tour had been discussed, "nothing was confirmed."
The rep added: "I have not been told she's pregnant."
The news follows reports that 38-year-old Carey, 38, was recently seen leaving a gynaecologist's office in Los Angeles this weekend, smiling to herself and holding what appeared to be a sonogram.
The singer, who married 27-year-old rapper Nick Cannon in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas in April, has so far refused to comment on baby rumours - but has admitted she is keen to start a family.
She said in a recent interview: "People are constantly asking me if I'm pregnant, but I don't like to talk about it too much. I just think about it as the next phase. We'll see.
"I've changed my mind about becoming a mother because I'm with The One. I think we would make good parents, and that we'd be able to figure out how to do it properly."
