Discussion: Ice Bucket Challenge is dumb

if it's either doing the challenge or donating money, shouldn't you donate money instead? Like, to help with the cancer research...? This is about awareness, I get it. But, I think this is just a ploy to get people to dump water on themselves like idiots. It makes much more sense to donate money. If you think about it, all of these millions of people doing the challenge are actually selfish... they didn't even donate money to the cause. It's a waste. From all these videos I'm seeing, money must not really be being donated.

I just read on the ALS foundation website though that they've received $13m in donations over the last few weeks vs $1-2m over the same period last year. The challenge is doing a great job.

I'm all for raising awareness and fundraising, but It's not even a challenge. It's not even hard to dump a bucket of ice water over your head.

It's not for Cancer rea search. It's for ALS. It's a disease that gets absolutely no government funding and people are my aware of that. It should be if you scream during the ice bucket challenge you have to donate. I'm glad that the celebrities are donating anyway.

Its spreading awareness and is doing a pretty good job. Even if the regular school age kids doing it don't donate it spreads to the richer people who donate and do the challenge.
