I just read on the ALS foundation website though that they've received $13m in donations over the last few weeks vs $1-2m over the same period last year. The challenge is doing a great job.
Whatever. It doesn't matter if it's for cancer research or ALS. That doesn't make my point any less valid and is mostly irrelevant to what we're talking about here.

Exactly, this exact thing happened to me a couple days ago! I was talking about how dumb this was and I didn't even realize that it was for fundraising.
Most media just present this challenge as "...takes the ice bucket challenge!" without even explaining why. It's a problem.
I think its good even if it just raises awareness because mostly thats what makes more people donate. And it is a challenge if theres actual ice cause its not easy to have that you . I dont get your problem or are you just one of those people who always wants to find a problem in everything ?
