Glee is set to introduce five new recurring characters in the upcoming sixth and final season, TVLine reports. And guess what? They are all McKinley High sophomores. Looks like we're heading back to Lima, Gleeks!
It's time for a role call! Here's the rundown of Glee's newbies:
First up, we have two new Cheerios, who are twins: Mason and Madison. They're both super-positive and weird, so they are perfect for the Cheerios, no? Oh, and Mason is straight, though many assume he's gay. Then we have the new football stud with a voice of magic Spencer, who is "post-Glee gay," a casting breakdown notes, which means no one messes with him because of his sexuality, and he'd kick their ass if they did.
The ambitious, unconventionally pretty and drily funny Jane will join New Directions after she's turned away by the Warblers. Finally, the shy and chubby Roderick is the new glee underdog, with a voice like Otis Redding.
Fans can expect to see some major changes in the final season, with Ryan Murphy revealing there would be a time-jump and a move away from New York. Plus, the recently-married Naya Rivera will no longer be a series regular.
Glee's 13-episode final season will kick off at midseason on Fox.
Ryan Murphy is introducing these characters as a backhanded attempt to save Glee.
He probably hopes that their remaining audiences members will connect with these new characters and renew interest in the show.
I'm predicting half of the cast to be sucked into the Glee's black hole, where Sugar, Rory and the Jesus hair guy (can't remember his name) are rotting, having no interesting storyline and just being there...
This show has been on a downward spiral since season 3, that's where I stopped watching it. It's such a shame because it had so much potential, but everyone keeps saying how it sucks even more year-by-year and this just kills another chance for at least a good final season.

Why new characters? You gave us new ones in Season 4, and you barely knew what to do with them
They should really focus on the new crop of characters that came in Season 4 or the original ones. There's no point in introducing new characters in your final season, because it'll just take time away from building up the story lines of other characters and ending the show properly. Just bring back Sugar () and up the episode count. Give us 26 episodes and make the first half dedicated solely to the McKinley and the other half to New York.
