no i don’t hate otherkin. i recognize species dysphoria as a legit medical condition proven by the scientific method. what i object to is the otherkin community on tumblr and elsewhere online piggybacking off of trans and queer activism. you need to understand that while we’re both shunned and oppressed for our identities our oppression happens in different ways. I will literally DIE if I don’t get my hormones but you won’t. I will feel agony for DAYS if I’m misgendered in public but you won’t.
There is no ‘proper’ identity and you deserve to take whatever measures you think you need to be identified the way you want to be identified. however you need to understand the nature of cisnormativity and how its directed at GENDER IDENTITY.

I think they should be respected.
A transwoman isn't biologically female, but you should still respect her choices.
Otherkin aren't biologically wolf or turtle, but you should still respect their choices.

I was born a boy, who is transitioning into a woman. I’m not one of these people who state the argument I WAS BORN DIS WAY. I believe that I was, and I follow the genetic XY theory. But I have nothing to prove to anyone.
Whether you want to believe it or not, everyone on this website is human.
An animal, etc. is not a gender.
Even animals have genders. And some species of animals change gender.
By going around saying that you are part of the trans community makes every person with gender dysphoria look like a goddamn joke, and people view us as that enough as it is.
If you feel like you’re not human, that’s your own business. Call your own thing. But when you go around “outing” yourself to people, and claiming not to be “cisgendered” (when you, indeed, are) you are making a mockery out of people who have serious issues.
And, for what I have seen out of every person who identifies as “otherkin”, claiming to self diagnose PTSD because you don’t have ****ing wings, is offensive, and toxic. Which again, instead of making a mockery out of yourself, making a mockery out of people who actually suffer from mental ilnesses, PTSD being one of the worst things that I could ever think of.
Grow the **** up. You are human. And don’t you even DARE say that someone is “triggering” you or “misgendering” you because you don’t have **** wrong with you, except for an extreme case of a disassociative mental issue.
And to whoever I offended, I don’t care.

First time I heard of it, doesn't really concern me. Besides this thread, I doubt I'll ever hear about them again, so do you, otherkins?
If all of my dash suddenly starts to be full of new otherkins then I guess I'll roll my eyes at it but whatever.

Maybe it's just me but I feel it's disrespectful to people who actually have a gender identity disorder. As if they're mocking them. If you identify as grass, act it and shut up.
I remember seeing a tumblr conversation where participants actually wrote something along the lines of: “I give it a month, I feel my wings starting to protrude from my backside, I'll finally become a full blown dragon“.... Like seriously, it's called scoliosis and you need therapy.

Well it definitely is annoying for me to read about. If they're not bothering other people, than I suppose it's fine. If they're trying to genuinely compare themselves to transgendered people or claim that they're actually oppressed in the real world, than that's offensive and they need to take several seats and get back to reality.
