Nah I don't think so. It was run into the ground in the late 00s. I don't think they'd get enough viewership/hype over it as they did before the twitter/itunes/smartphones were a daily convenience.

Honestly, once all the hype and nostalgia wears off, I think people will stop watching and it will flop. I hate to say it, but there's just no point to have a show like TRL on anymore, unfortunately.

They should bring it back. It's not like they have much good programming now. During most of the day it's repeats of the same thing.

I think they should bring it back regardless. VH1 still has their Top 20 Countdown after plenty of years. MTV can easily trump it again just by coming back, even if it's not as big of a hit as it previously was. It could happen.

I'm not sure how you arrived at that conclusion, but anyways, I don't think so. Any high ratings would be due to the performer alone. We don't have to watch TV to see music videos anymore, and MTV isn't a major network so no major stars are gonna get booked to perform live on it that often. A live music performance show/American Bandstand 2.0 on a major network might work, but no, TRL looks like it's done.

Why wouldnt anyone want TRL back? Music labels need to promote artists yes? Ppl still watch TV, there needs to be a top 10 of whats "Hot" in music.

But then come time for the Vmas we dont know who half the artists are nominated.

Labels tryed to keep TRL on the air in 2008
when mtv canceled it. Good thing we got TRL
back and huge turn out the other night. It just shows
ppl still care. If we didnt care then why would there be thousands
of ppl outside of the TRL studios still.
