It's so cringeworthy to see ATRL members not knowing the meaning of word GLOBAL

It happens every day ! So I decided to make this thread !

When a song/album is called GLOBAL it doesn't automatically mean it was successful, it means it charted WW. Why is that so hard to understand?

It charted in the following countries :

So how many countries should a song chart for it to be considered global?
If it charted in Antartica, Ecuador and Egypt, should a song be considered global?

They are a non-factor in the biggest (or the second biggest, depending on who you're talking to) music market in the world, Japan. So no, they are international at best (not sure how Madonna and J.Lo fare, to be fair).

You are confusing iTunes position with official chart. Any pop singer can enter the top 10 on iTunes of several countries and drop out of the top 500 the day after. Only sales (certifications) and the audience can define what song is global or not, not peak on iTunes.

It means the artist in question is doing well in several countries, not all of them.

Dude, its embarassing at this point. Why isnt the most popular artist from Croatia (my country) charting in any other country? Simple, she is not global.

You are constantly saying a song needs to sell a certain amount of copies to be considered global. No it doesnt. Any song that charted just for a week at #99 in 20 countries can be considered global!

Global =/= Global Hit

Each continent has few prominent markets that are more referenced than the others. When I said all, I meant the ones the OP mentioned in their post as they cover the GLOBE. If for instance someone charts in U.S.A, Ukraine, and Brazil, they are international. There is an article that explains this in detail, if I find it I'll post it.
