I saw someone's signature and they had a piece of this person's post as their siggy. The person says that education is overrated and they state they are a teacher.

I personally disagree with this post. I'm learning to become a future teacher, and I think education plays a huge role in our society. In the US at least, I think Education is not taken as seriously as it should be. What do you guys think?

The education system (and in particular, college) is over-rated. Actually having the knowledge to know what you're doing? No, that's not over-rated.

Oh, and before someone responds to this with something like "So you wouldn't care if a doctor performing a life-dependent operation on you didn't have a college degree?", refer to the part where I said having the knowledge to know what you're doing. College is not the only way to have the knowledge to know what you're doing, but in some cases, it's the best way. (Like the doctor thing.)

Well education is must for occupations like doctors, scientists, teachers etc. Without education our civiliziation would be at the level of apes. Would would you know without education ? You couldnt even use language properly.
