How would you handle a burglar situation as a homeowner?
There's this case in Minnesota where a homeowner shot two teenagers to death after both entered his home. It's heartbreaking they died. The homeowner could have just given them a warning that he has a gun and this could have driven them away? What's your take on this?. http://gma.yahoo.com/minnesota-man-a...opstories.html
Unfortunately those two kids shouldn't have broke into a house, idiotic on their half. I know my step-dad would take out his hunting rifle if someone broke into ours.
I would do everything in my power in order to stop them, if that resulted in me killing them, that's just tough luck for them. I don't care what their story is, if they break into my house, I'm going to take action
If you're breaking into somebody's home then you deserve whatever happens to you. Someone intruding your home is terrifying and you do not know what the intruders could be capable of.
He had the right to defend his property. The problem though is that it sounds like he is proud that he killed them. Not to mention, waiting a day after the break-in occurred is a bad idea no matter what. He should have called 911 as soon as everything occurred.
If someone breaks into your home, you have the right to defend yourself but you need to make sure you get help right away.
(I am vehemently anti-gun due to the statistics I was shown of lax gun laws' correlation to higher murder rates)
I get the feeling that he is hiding something. If you have had multiple break-ins in the past, you do not have the right to camp out and kill somebody. That is premeditated -- not manslaughter, but murder. He deserves to go to jail, IMHO.
The kids shouldn't have been breaking in to begin with, but his reaction is completely and utterly uncalled for.

If my house is being broken into, I lock the door and call the police. If ti is happens again, I call the police again. Easy-peasy.
If someone breaks into my home with a gun and then I shout out that I have a gun. Then they'll just shoot me. What kind of logic are you guys working with?

Maybe call the police then give the warning. Telling them you have a gun and have called the police will drive them away. The police will be on their way to assist you and restore order.

He should have invested in some burglar alarms. He knew that he's been a victim of burglary in the past. He wasn't thinking.
It's the kids fault but I still believe guns should be regulated. But he wasn't the one doing anything illegal. For all he knew they could've been there to harm him.
