Milli Vanilli didn't just lip sync, they didn't even record the songs that were on their album, their job was literally to be a face for music they never sang, Very different.

But, some artists lip-sync because they want to sing & dance at the same time, and are not capable to do that. They want to make it more entertaining by dancing so they choose to lip sync. Not all artists are capable of singing and dancing, only a few like Lady Gaga ect. & Also I think it's because their probably insecure of their live voices, messing up, or missing a note. Most of the time I don't mind when they lipsync

Lip syncing has always been a reality. Popstars have used it since ever and the option "artists are getting lazier" is so stupid... They are actually giving a damn on delivering more than vocals. Some artists have already proven theirselves at this point and like to do something more than to sing, I think it only shows their dedication to make a show enjoyable. There are times for everything.

When artists choose to lipsync it's probably because they are dancing or doing more that will make them sound not as good, I really have no problems with lipsyncing. Besides, in some cases (Beyoncé, Mariah...) they really should preserve their voices as much as they can, and sometimes lipsyncing is the better option.

Alot of the songs are too fast now, that in some cases it's actually better.

Lots of acts believe that they've proved their vocals' power and don't bother anymore

Ehh. But at least the artists isn't afraid to actually sing live. That's how it's supposed to be. When you see someone live the point is for it to be LIVE.

So you're saying lip syncing don't give a damn? Some go all the way in to the studio to re-record live sounding vocals and risk being caught/backlash. Sounds like a lot of work the could be avoided by just flipping the switch of the mic on.

It has been popular since the 60s. Get off the cool laid and pick up a book. Even popular artist like Celine will admit people were lipping before her, during her time, and after her time, and that it has always been common practice since introduced. People just take more notice now.

Every artist lip syncs, including Rihanna. I'm not sure if it's more common now than it was in the past though. MJ, Janet and Celine were notorious lip syncers.

Not giving a damn could be a reason idk because I'm not a mind reader but hey some people wanna be perfectionist and don't want to go on stage serving screeching cat realness. At the end of the day their lip synced, pre recorded and live vocals are still better others always going on stage sounding a mess so it's whatever.

When they dance, it's either pre-recorded or straight from the track. It depends how obvlivious they want to it be. As someone said in this thread, it's the reality of pop concerts and the most memorable performances ever (see Michael, Madonna, Janet & Britney) were 100% lip synced.

I know most people hate non-live singing but try to dance/move a lot/command a stage and sing well at the same time, and you'll quickly realized that it's impossible. It's better to have a trick under your sleeve than to divert the attention from the visual aspect of the performance because of your horrendous live vocals. Any tour directors will tell you the same thing.

Wait until 3-4 more years when other current artists start giving up touring every era to do Vegas.
