Have you ever experienced or witnessed racism (like the kind on this site) and how would you handle this. Are you passive or do you actually do something about it?

Usually i'm passive. I live knowing that they won't get very far with their close mindedness so me confronting them won't do much anyway.

Lots of racists become very successful.

I usually ignore it IRL because people love to call you "sensitive" and say you're "looking to be offended" or "playing the race card" or some ignorant ******** and others agree and you don't want to get a reputation among non minorities as someone who calls you out on **** sensitive.

I just ignore it, honestly. Ignorance doesn't deserve to be dignified with a response of any kind. And I don't get upset when people are like "I'm not into <insert own race here>" because it reflects more about them than me tbh. I just feel sorry for them.

First determine if you're being oversensitive, and if the poster is really not racist.
If you determine that he or she is, clock him.

I see where you're coming from but don't you think they should be told they're wrong? Like try and convert them from racism?

Yeah but at the same time I feel like if you were brought up a certain way to believe certain things then its really hard to break that. Most of the time racists are taught to hate a certain race from a young age because they learn it from parents/family. So idk if it would be that simple to "convert" them. Most racists are ignorant anyway and won't listen to reason imo.

Most of the direct racism I've experienced, I haven't had the power to do anything about and it's infuriating. Some of the things I have spoken out about and reacted to ended up getting me in trouble (like the time I snapped and ended up telling a teacher to mind her damn business for trying to call herself questioning and correcting me with my race selection on my EOG tests at the end of 8th grade and landed in ISS for 2 days ) but, that's because of the hot headed way I chose to react, especially when I was younger. The only advice I have going through certain situations is to stay calm and play smarter than they do.

I don't experience racism irl but I do sometimes experience it on the internet. Being white people often blame us for the things our ancestors did in the past. I usually don't care when someone says cracker or anything like that.. But i've never encountered something really serious. I think in Europe we deal very differently with racism than for example America but that's probably because of different history. Arab people get discriminated a lotttttttt here but most either joke about it themselves or don't care.

Passive when it's against me, active when it's against others.

Except for the time in middle school after 9/11, I got called Turban Head and Sand Ni**a. Punched the guy in the face and ran. Probably not the best thing to do but it felt gewwwd.

So many blacks on ATRL do this and I really don't get their logic. The white supremacy-enforcing government is to blame, not everyday white people that you pass by along the street

People haven't been racist directly to me anyways, I guess I'm hot or something. Just kidding, I might be way too mixed.

Now, I just brush it off because people ain't gon' change.

DONT BE PASSIVE. You have to call them out on their ****. If you let it pass, you are part of the problem.
