My dad died last summer, it was a very pain experience. Still not over it.
I don't even want to think about what will happen when my mom passes. I'll lose it. Just enjoy the time you have with them now and make some good memories.

Not really, for all you know his parent's may not be the nicest of people (not saying they aren't, just hypothetically.)
And animals become a big part of your life, they become like family. So the death of a pet can be heartbreaking.

Because of the thought and being away from home nowadays I find myself actually closer with my parents than I ever was living at home

I'm not close with my parents at all so I'd just shrug it off.

Thinking about this topic gets me depressed. I honestly cannot imagine my life without my parents. And just thinking about everything they've gone through, everything they've done for me... I'm going to miserable

This is a bit random, but I want to say it. In my Dreams for the past year, my Father has only appeared in them two times. The first one was him getting killed. The other one was his Ghost appearing where he died. I remember waking up, crying as I never got to say my final goodbyes and how good of a father he has been to me.
So pretty much my worse fear is not saying the final goodbye.

As much as it will hurt if they go first, I'd rather that any day than make my parents go through losing one of their children

As a kid, the thought of losing my mum used to scare the hell out of me. I never knew how I would deal with it, and would even tell myself that if I were 60 when she died, it would be far too early.
Then, just a few years ago, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She did all the necessary chemotherapy and surgeries involved and was given the all clear by doctors. Six months later, she went for a checkup and was found to have a brain tumor and was given a few months to live. She underwent radiation therapy to extend her life as long as possible. Amazingly, she lasted a year, but unfortunately passed away just a week before her 46th birthday. There are no words to describe just how hard it is to see your mother on her hospital bed and to have her grab your hand, turn to you and say "You know what is happening... right?". To see her have to eat through a straw, use a bedpan, not be able to shower without assistance, etc. There are just no words.
Knowing she is in a better place is what gets me through the days, but it's still not easy, and takes a long time to remember you can't just pick up the phone and call her any more, or ever hear her voice again. Contrary to how you may feel at the time, the world doesn't end, but you do have to pick yourself back up and get on with it. It won't be easy, but you just have to.
I am lucky in that I knew she was sick and was able to spend the time with her I did. There is a lot of people who don't get that chance.

My mother died when I was about 3 and it has influenced my ENTIRE life. All my struggles, sadness, abuse, and even present triumphs all lead back to that. I would do anything to have her back, and even trade my happiness now for that. I know my life would've been much happier with us together.

I can't even think about it. I don't get along with them at times but they have both worked so hard to give me a better life.

Even though my father has been completely useless these past 10 years or so I still think his death would affect me big time.
'cause deep inside I still love him

I find it heartbreaking when somebody cares so little about their parents even when they are awful.

Unless their childhood was like the boy in the real story of "A Child Called It" where his mom forced him to sleep in the garage in the winter, eat his baby brother's diaper poo, and drink clorox...then these twinks should be more grateful.
Some of these comments are horrific. God bless your parents.

I'm super close to all 4 of my grandparents too, when they die I'm going to be the biggest mess on this planet. I hate even thinking about it.
