Which computer do you prefer? Windows 7 or Windows 8 and which has a better design

Windows 8. I love the Metro UI.

I use Mac but I had the Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 for a while, and It was cool.

Windows 8 is doing too much. I prefer the more basic and easy one. Windows 7.

Windows 8 By Far.

At first Windows 8 was a pain, but now I can't live without it. I'm using my office computer now that has Windows 7, and I always find myself trying to drag the search bar out of the right side of the screen.

Windows 8 is terrible for desktops imo. Doing the most simple tasks took a lot more time than on Windows 7. The Windows store is also terrible, since the vast majority of apps are just

By just using the computer you really feel like it was designed to be used on a touchscreen, not a mouse. Also, my FPS in games was worse than on Windows 7, although still not terribly bad. The only thing I liked was that it was pretty.

After like a year with Windows 8, I switched back to Windows 7 and I missed it too much. Games were faster and everything was fast and easy to access. I went back to W8 when 8.1 was released and I decided that I still hated it, so I formated and went back to Windows 7. I really wanted to like it, but besides the fancyness it's a downgrade from W7.

I just want windows period. I'm tired of this mac. If I knew 5 years ago when I got it I couldn't play SO many games I would've got a 1000 laptop instead.

Windows 7 was Microsoft's peak in terms of OS.

W8 is a rushed mess just like Windows Vista once was.

windows 7 is easier to figure out,

but i have & am used to windows 8 now, so 8

The search mode is tedious. I used to be able to press things like
Start > Control Panel
Start > Computer
Start > Search
Instead I have to now go to the actual start screen, then search, then find these apps, only to be taken back to desktop, An extra 10 seconds to do something is not an improvement

With games, most of the time the games would just end up a blackscreen unless I said compatibility for Windows 7. But when they did, I'd be playing and suddenly a metro app would open (I'm guessing via keyboard shortcuts) and I'd have to close it to keep playing.

The fact that you constantly switch from desktop apps to metro pissed me off as well.

& I was using a laptop that had a touchscreen (it could also be folded into a tablet) which I bought to use with W8.
Just too much effort for things that can be done quicker and better on it's preceder :/

but if you're on the desktop already, you just have to hover above the top right corner and then click the magnifying glass to search for all those programs? do you actually look for those apps?

I agree. W8 is just so faffy and the start screen is the definition of superfluous.

Windows Vista was actually the least rushed of them all. It came out in 2007, XP came out in 2001.
Vista's problem was they took too much inspiration from Mac OS in terms of design and features, but didn't fine tune any of them. They also didn't focus the OS on running programs, so you'd often had to run them in XP compatibility. It was also much slower than Windows 7.
