It seems now that witches are very common in popular tv shows like American Horror Story, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, and even talks about a Charmed reboot because of it's success on Netflix.

Do we owe this tribute to witches to the iconic Charmed Ones? Or was it Buffy? Or Sabrina The Teenage Witch?

IMO Buffy doesn't count since witches were not the core focus in the show. Sabrina was eh but I don't feel like it did much really. So that leaves Charmed as the most iconic witch show of all time

Mess at people thinking the fact that Supernatural TV shows weren't exactly popular before Buffy and only got popular after it. The X-Files popularised and brought the Supernatural genre to the forefront of TV.

I mean, peaking at 28 million viewers for an episode (non post-Super Bowl) isn't exactly something to overlook when Buffy never even transcended 10 million views.
