Name Female artist you believe are true icons of our generation (maybe from late 90s till now )
In my opinion the only true icons (Success, Impact, Following, Power everything) are
Britney, Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga
Britney - obviously the fastest rise to the fame since Madonna, one of the biggest fanbases of all time, huge success, tours, impact, media attention that no one has ever seen before.
Beyonce - enormous talent, probably both the best vocalist and dancer of our time, huge hits, the most poweful celebrity couple along with Jay, 10-15 years into her career accomplishes her biggest tour + her biggest album. Inspire so many people.
Rihanna - She often don't give 2 ***** and at the same time she is on TOP of the charts every year, she is appealing as **** without trying to appeal (well not exactly but yeah, It's not like she tries to appeal to teenagers like a lot of other artists) she is talented, she is beautiful, everyone loves her, 8 years into her career and she is still just as consistent with her success. Accomplishes her first 130M+ tour last year, featured in some of the biggest collabs of our generation.
Lady Gaga - The fastest rise to the TOP since Britney Spears, her Impact on the POP Music Scene is bigger than anyone else since Britney Spears, she is one of the main reasons TOP 40 format was changed from R&B influenced to Dance Influenced songs, 5 grammys in 3 years, 25M albums in 5 years, some of the biggest hits of our generation all of them 10M + WW, Media attention that no one has seen since Britney (And Justin Bieber but he is not a female) . More awards in 3 years than some artists in their entire careers. Opened the doors for a lot of artists, for a lot of videos, outfits that no one would've make / wear if it wasn't for Gaga making it "mainstream" again. The biggest young touring artist with 400M+ gross in 4 years and one of the biggest fanbases in the world. Named the most powerful celebrity, the most powerful musician, the only one besides Beyonce to make the TOP most powerful women list and named the most famous celeb according to Guiness.
Honorable mentions: Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Adele, Katy Perry. In my opinion Christina has been more of a celebrity in the last 5-6 years, lacking success and hits, lacking iconic moments, appearances etc. P!nk is the most consistent artist in our generation but she lacks something... I don't feel like she is an Icon
Adele had one of the most successful albums in history during the digital age... still dont feel like she is an Icon, and Katy Perry is the digital and radio artist of the decade but still don't feel like she is an Icon yet.

She can be considered an Icon I guess but compared to the other 4 ... she lacks impact.
