I don't think that philosophy is universally applicable tbh. No, you would not critique an English paper if you don't speak English well, but conversely you don't have to know anything about film development to critique a movie. If you're a consumer, you are entitled to - actually encouraged to - criticize the product. If the developer is smart, they'll hear the voice of the consumer and adjust accordingly.
Certain artists don't understand that. Or maybe they do, and choose not to acknowledge it.
Which is fine, but then they shouldn't complain.
