I mean this guy made it into mainstream without any major label backing. Garnered two number single back to back making history and made some impact as well. Also I think he speaks truth when we raps Same Love is literally better than any rap song that was released in 2013. It was real and raw it dove into an issue that hiphop/rap disregards . I hear this hate about he shouldn't win a Grammy his album is trsh or if he wins in rap I'm going to be sick .. I see what your saying. Idk I'd have to check out the album. The singles come off as just catchy to me with the exception of Same Love and catchy songs are not enough to be worthy for an AOTY nomination atleast not for me.

But sis, he was soooo brave for writing a song about gay people since he's a straight white man. It was sooo amazing and GROUNDBREAKING for hip hop even though it only got played on pop radio.
