In the digital era, when most artist can't even go platinum in a year, let alone in 3wks. Which of these girls could pull a Beyoncé, meaning dropping an album out of the blue with NO promo and NO discounts and slay as good as Bey or better?? Keep it cute and no stan wars puhlez.

None. The only other person I could see being successful by doing this is Justin Timberlake. No other contemporary artists.

Yeah, I'm not fully decided that Adele could do it YET, but once one of her singles get out there the album would obviously sell more. With another successful era or two, she could easily. Rihanna's the only one who wouldn't flop with this strategy right now, but even then I think she'd benefit more from having a (likely #1) single out as pre-promo first.

Taylor is the only one I could see this working for, really.

I don't see this sort of strategy working for Adele. She shifted a ton of albums but mostly on the strength of her singles and promotional performances. She has yet to establish the massive loyal fanbases Bey and Taylor have.

Adele probably, but now that it's already been done I doubt anyone would get the same kind of attention. The reason she sold so much is because of all the hype over the fact that a big popstar dropped an album with no warning which was an entirely new strategy, now it's not new anymore.

First of all, that kind of release helped her. Great move!
And there were rumours she was releasing in December, she had Super Bowl, a WW tour, commercials, banners all over iTunes for weeks.

Her numbers are anyway impressive.

Taylor and ADELE could definately pull that. If ADELE released like that, I can see her selling like 1.5M first week.

False. Beyoncé's positive public image for the past year definitely helped the success of her album sales, especially in the following weeks like now. Gaga, however, has not had a very popular public image for some time now, so if she were to have released ARTPOP in 'BEYONCÉ' fashion, it could have either done moderately well, or it would have flopped horribly. But it would not have had the same impact nor magnitude as Beyoncé's album.
