I'm not sure Insomniac has a direction to follow anyway. It has a few gems like 'Ring My Bells' and the singles but the album in itself is mostly a bunch of half hearted attempts at different styles..

I agree. The Album wasn't cohesive at all, but is it wrong? I like most of it's song and it's kinda special to me, cause that's when I went from being just a casual fan to stanning hard for King Enrique (it hadn't last long tho, cause I disliked most of Euphoria

)

This was by far his messiest era. He only had two singles in each territory (three if you count the Lil Wayne-less version of 'Push' they sorta released) and even then it was all over the place. Over the years I've sometimes thought his choice of singles misrepresents his sound but in this case there was no actual sound to misrepresent.

2 singles? In my country all of them: DYK(WIFL), SM, ToBS, Push w/ Lil' Wayne and CYHM (I dunno if it counts, cause its release was a mess) did quite well... But anyway You're right again. Singles flopped HARD worldwide, but was it beacuse of lack of a sound? I think that's cause he had have and image of a romantic latino lover straight from Hero or Baliamos (his 2 most iconic songs to date, I believe) and then after 4 or 5 years he came back with a cute pop bop like DYK and right after that it was followed by very dark influenced ToBS. People were waiting for Enrique, but when he came back he wasn't like the pre-Insomniac one they knew. Also he couldn't deal with the worldwide promo and all he did was recording flawless music videos and releasing spannish/french versions of singles.

When he was promoting 'Somebody's Me' he seemed to go from saying that he wanted to do something current sounding and different but the label made him release the song and he didn't like it to the song being one his favorites and wanting to get back to really simple songs.
None of it was bad but you could tell that the failure of Seven had confused every one in Enrique's camp and no one exactly knew how to come back from that.
The weird thing his current output is also a bit all over the place but in this case that's the point. He's in a much better place now.

I don't think he's in a better place now. Just like in Insomniac era he released some singles and they flopped, but not as many and not so hard as now! I Like How It Feels, Naked (it was meant to be his own song, as I read somewhere), FFY, TtNU, Heart Attack, Mouth 2 Mouth, Loco, El Peredor and Freak! Only Loco and MAYBE ILHIF and FFY had some kind of a success... He's not in the same place, he's a lot worse one, cause the freakin Insomniac came out, we had an album! and now I don't acutally believe any of these songs will be on his 10th and it'll come before 2015 (I hope I'm wrong tho) Also I think You'll agree that those non-cohevise Insomniac songs were just better than these buzz ones...
Sorry for my English
