What is up with people using lack of promotion as an excuse, especially with such big names?

Besides, it was released on Christmas Day after much press (the retirement PR stunt, etc), I've seen the trailer/commercial for it multiple times now, and he just released a new album too following weeks of new singles.

That's actually alot of promo for a film. Especially all the press he's been getting about his so-called "retirement".

Not this excuse again. Everything he has done has been to promote his movie. There are television ad's running on TV constantly. If the film costs 5million to make, you can believe that Justin and his team at least want to get over that threshold. Bieber and his record label are in this for money as well, they don't care about the little girls who for whatever reason think Justin has "changed" their life. Which is why he released a song every Monday for 10 weeks and then dropped album with 2 or more tracks added to it, it's a business. And 1.2million opening day, keeping it out of the Top 10, is horrid.

Even with all of that promotion in the form of 10 promotional singles?

I don't get this album concept. How is it any different from a regular LP when it consists of 10 buzz singles and 5 unreleased songs? Seems like a legit album to me.

If 1D at their peak could 'only' manage 30 million total on 2.500 screens there was no way this Bieber movie on 1.000 screens after a dreadful year for the guy would do anything but flop.

Honestly, isn't he like the first one to do a sequel movie about his life/concert? One movie is enough, after that stick to the THS (true Hollywood story) or E's specials.

But I hope he had fun doing that retirement promotion plan.
