I'm refering to self-segregation. Where people would only hang out with people of a similar race, culture, sexuality, religion, or belief. Its something we do naturally. And I never pay attention till it was pointed out to me. If you go to a diverse area like your school or job, you'll usually see people of the same race hanging around each other and rarely do you see a mix.
I see nothing wrong with it, but it seems to be a vexation of some people.
uHH, I'm kinda guilty of self-segregation, but I go by interest and personality.
For example, if I'm in a room full of new people and hear a couple individuals talking about video games or anime, I'll probably join their group; their race or ethnicity doesn't matter to me.
I am not opposed to being friends with anyone just due to skin color, but I would be lying if I said the people who sit at my lunch table are ethnically diverse...or even diverse in gender. Only one other guy sits at our table, then 4 girls
No its wrong but we do it anyways. It's not a problem that gets much publicity but I bet you it will grow as time goes on. We need to break down these racial barriers and just make friends with based on the individual and not on their race.
There's nothing wrong with it AS LONG AS you are open minded about hanging out with different people. I personally do not hang out with many gay or black people. I have friends from tons of groups except white people. I don't know why though.
Nothing wrong with self I segregation, it's natural to be drawn to people that are like you. It's just imperative to try to mingle with different types of people as well.
I never had this problem if we connect on a similar level i'll hang out with you. Someone having the same skin tone as me means nothing if we can't get along.
I agree with self-segregation when it comes to hobbies, styles, and activities, not beliefs, religions, or anything dealing with skin color or sexuality. You are who you are, just as long as we have something to talk about, you're cool with me.
