There's really no other way to save the industry. Whether they adapt to new formats (i.e. USB flash) or they add backstage passes stickers - it's not going to work. If the labels want the cash; they only have one decision left.. cut that price tag in half.

People are into the downloads these days. You could reduce them by 3/4 and people still wouldn't buy that many CDs.

Even with downloads, only 18% paid the $5 for Saul Williams' recent album. Pathetic.

An easy thing to do is stop treating 500,000 or even 1 million as dismal album sales... because face it... they are no longer dismal in this day & age. Maybe in 1995, maybe even in 2000, but now it doesn't matter.

Decreasing retail CD prices to $5 is a good idea, though.

$13-14 CDs with half off price = $6.50-7.00 each.... I would be more inclined to pay. Truthfully this is roughly around the same price I pay per CD in my BMG CD music club. (Pending upon the promo/special they're having)

As far as downloads, I'd go for a $.49 per track tag. Then for the major and largely played songs/singles (such as Stronger by Kanye West or One Republic's Apologize) I'd like to see a $.24 per track price.

Here in Philippines, a regular price of a CD is 400pesos or some are 355pesos. If it wil be reduced to half, it'll be 200pesos, and I can buy two cds by that, so I think it'll be good.

CDs(the actual material) are so cheap these days, and they are selling those albums at 18$..No way.

CD's are so much because of the format they come in right? They should give two options when released CDs. The original format and the second idea is:

They just released one of those single spaced CD holders with the actual CD in it. They have a cheap paper for the cover (but it's the actual cover) and have the back cover on the back. There is no booklet though.

I'm sure they could save a good $2 to $3 per booklet by doing it this way. Reducing CDs to like $6 to $7. Most CDs are selling for $9 on the first day they come out, which I don't understand why people can't afford that. It's cheap already as it is.

I think paying $9 now is better than the $12 it used to be.

$5 CD's is the only way to save the industry. That does not mean everyone will start buying CD's again. I prefer to support my favorite artists in other ways like going to their concerts and perhaps buying some of their merchandise. CD's to me seem like a waste.

DVD's sell fine. And they are like 20 bucks. So obviously people aren't buying because of money issues. I think it's something more. I think it's because of the internet and how you can just download music to your iPod.

I would hate to see CDs go. I would kill myself. But there's more to the reason why people don't buy CDs than the price. People would rather download it because the quality of the album isnt' always the best. :-\

Include free gum in the CD. Everyone loves free gum right?

80% of the reason is the price. 19.9 % is that downloading is more convienient. Every other reason accounts for 0.1 % or less of the problem.

Yes that's the best idea. Like in our country in order to kill pirating our music(though its not killed yet) is they reduced the prices.
