Adele has walked away from a £12 [$19.2] million offer to be the face of L’Oréal in a move that left the firm “gobsmacked”.

The superstar singer, 25, was months into negotiations and all set to brush aside Cheryl Cole by signing a four-year advertising contract.

It was a megabucks deal that looked destined to make her the cosmetic giant’s highest-paid star ever.

Oscar-winner Adele would have joined a celebrity “faces of” roll call with Cheryl, Penelope Cruz, Eva Longoria and Jennifer Lopez.

A source said: “L’Oréal was in negotiations for the deal with Adele and it looked to be happening – but she just changed her mind on it.

“L’Oréal is gobsmacked that she turned down such a huge amount.” North London girl Adele has often insisted on her reluctance to sell out, claiming she dislikes artists who are constantly in everyone’s face.

In 2011 the Someone Like You singer said: “I don’t want my name anywhere near another brand. I don’t wanna be tainted or haunted. I think it’s shameful when you sell out.”

But in March it was revealed she was considering a deal after being chased by cosmetics companies including Dior and Estée Lauder.

If her cover of Vogue was one of the lowest selling, I doubt L'Oreal were ever thinking of having her doing anything with them. Selling albums =/= selling fashion products.

I get she doesn't want to sell out and she will probably last longer in the biz by not doing so and i doubt she needs the money. She could've probably done it and gave it to charity though.

She should have done it, the confidence boost this would have given multiple girls around the world >


But I understand why she didn't want too and respect her decision.

Why? She's so beautiful, she would slay.

Adele's US Vogue cover was the best selling of them all in 2012.
The UK vogue cover didn't do well.

Adele has a gorgeous face and hair. She would do well on the commercials.

This one??? It probably didn't sell because people didn't recognize her on the cover.

She isn't earning that much money tho ... Remember In 2011/2012 when 21 sold so many copies, she earned like 40M while others like Gaga earned double than that ..

She earns millions from her music so I don't see why she could be bothered by any offer of that kind, no matter how highly paid.

21 and her singles are STILL selling well, Adole her powah..
