Avril talking about Christina in a interview: "I prefer to retire with dignity instead of being a collaborator"
The princess of Pop Rock was asked about what did she think of her last collab with Chad Kroeger and about "Let Me Go" having more success as a single than the other ones. She replied:
"I like that my songs reach the success that I wait but I like them more when I'm the protagonist..." "... On most of my successes I'm the only performer, so I wouldn't like to retire being a collaborator like Christina Aguilera".
Avril tried to retract saying: "I'm not saying that her career is bad, I mean, I like her voice, it's awesome, but I wouldn't like to finish in a second place for just being a collaborator."
This looks kinda shady since there were also rumours years ago that Avril didn't like Christina because allegedly Christina was rude to her at an awards show or something. Random...

you're reading it wrong.
allegedly Avril is saying that she wouldn't want to "go out" like X is, i.e. being a featured artist on tracks with every artist on the face of the planet in order to scrape a top 10 hit... Avril doesn't want to "resort" to featuring on someone else's song. But it's just not true...
