I love how the Navy is upset because a vocal expert didn't praise Rihanna, I mean gorl get a grip she's not the best vocalist around, the compliments she got were perfectly correct. She has good potential and definitely an interesting tone but she can't sing as well as Beyonce and she never will.
Yeah, never mind the advanced musical degree with a concentration in singing and years of experience as a vocal trainer in which she's developed two complete start to finish vocal courses and is paid very well for private vocal training...no, of course she has no clue what she's talking about.
No matter how much deflecting y'all try to do, it doesn't change the fact that Christina has poor technique and no one that is knowledgeable about proper technique will cosign that ****. You can attempt to detract from and discredit the opinions of those quoted all you like -- what you WON'T do, is find any expert that will recommend her technique. And if you can, please post -- I'll wait.
The point is that it doesn't really matter if she has a degree in music or if you have a degree in music or if I have a degree in music. People judge music on what they like and what sounds good to them not technical nonsense and an indiscriminate list of "credentials". Rules are broken everywhere, in lyric writing and melodic structure and chords everyday in modern pop music. But who cares? If you like it, that's all that matters. No one is going to be like "Stop, I have a degree in music and this melody is composed wrong! You're not allowed to like this " No one cares about any of that lol. The general public views Christina as a great singer, and they don't care what kind of technique she uses.

I love it too. Wherever Rihanna fans are perched, they work over time to try and create this illusion to argue that she can actually sing or has "improved" by posting the same 3 or 4 videos that no one but them finds impressive. When they see someone out of their sphere reaffirming the general consensus that she's a poor singer, they feel victimized because they can't argue what was published over their heads. So they bellyache about how it was focused on early performances, as if that's some kind of foul. What do they think Whitney vocal critiques are based on? Surely not the last 10 years of her life. Same with Mariah, and probably even Beyoncé. Early performances show performers at their raw best. Unfortunately early Rihanna at the mic is, well...

Moot point as this thread is about someone's opinion and analysis of the natural abilities and technical skill of various singers; not whether or not technical skill is relevant to personal preference. And the average radio listener may not necessarily care one way or another about the mechanics of being a proper vocalist, but, as evidenced by the tens and hundreds of thousands to millions of hits on these vocal profiling sites and videos, there are a good number of people that do care whether it's for personal enrichment or just general knowledge. And if it doesn't make a difference to you one way or another about the technicalities, why bother even going into a thread like this in the first place? I don't really get all the back and forth and smugness from those that purport to not care one way or another.
So, I was watching some of Bey's live performances on youtube and I'm really impressed. She's definitely one of the best VOCALISTS that we have right now. I saw this posted before and I love it. AMAZING!
This is fair, just imagine if Xtina had Beyoncé's technique...it is a little frustrating because you can learn technique, but you can't learn talent....There's no doubt that if Xtina, with rigorous training, would have been the best, with no competition in this generation...
The unability to learn is not a talent. It's like two students going to take piano's classes, one has a predisposition for piano and the other ends up assimiling better. Talent is also having a good ear and you can't say you have an ear for vocals when you make the mistake Xtina makes.

Do you really want to use that as shade? I don't know what's with you navy members but something is clearly off.

Girl you aint seen the threads they make praising her vocals in which no other fanbase joins them.
They cant take the fact that she will never be more then a average singer. And dead at the navi ignoring alll the people discussed but only. Attempt to attack beyonce who during the survivor era was already a superior singer then rih will ever be.

Good. Bey can stay doing the most, I ain't even made. Madonna don't even have the high vocals ya'll bragging about yet that don't stop people from calling her the queen of pop...OPPPS.

True tea.
- No worries tho, years from now when Rihanna is 10-15 years into her career they'll still be fuming trying to figure out how she is so damn successful and still being talked about.
Besides we all know the real reason why the hive is so bothered by Rihannas mere existence is because they can't fathom how someone they deem as "untalented" or "can't sing" could be so successful like their fave. Mind-boggling isn't it. Then again I'd be mad too if my fave had to do 2x the amount of work to keep up.

she isn't known for her voice but her music and artistry/performance skills are what got her the title she has now, rihanna isn't even close to that, stop

please come back when rihanna has 15+ years in the game. she has tons of single success but beyonce's career expands beyond that, the navy is getting mad meanwhile we aren't the ones that wrote the article

Exactly, and The Navy can spare me with the whole "She has the potential to be an amazing vocalist" mess because unlike other singers, she's never a great vocalist at ANY point in her career. Good vocalists don't struggle basic things like Rihanna does like pitch, staying on key, breath control etc. Things that come naturally for people with actual vocal talent.
Give me a good Rihanna performance and I'll give you five bad ones. She may be better than Britney, Katy, Ciara, etc but that's not saying too much.
Beyonce to me is still like 'any other good black female singer', but I agree with Xtina comments, its a shame she thought she's too good for vocal lessons, Rihanna is better than people give her credit for, its just that her vocal is not suited for pop music, but she makes her pop unique anyway.
"Any other good black female singer?" LMAO, you're an idiot!
