It all comes down to Katy having a better team. Pretty much every reason you can possibly come up with will be due to her better team - even Katy looking better is partially due to her having better stylists and such, Kesha can look very pretty if she tries.

You sure you don't want to think that one through again before you show everyone your complete lack of knowledge of the music industry?
Katy appealing to the kid demographic, ie the one which has absolutely no money or power in the household, means she's more successful than someone who appeals to the demographics which actually buy music and listen to the radio?
Have any of the main Tween idols (Disney Girls, Pretty boys..) gotten a single number 1 in the past decade?
I remember reading how she wasn't given a lot of freedom on songs like "Die Young" and I think that every artist deserves to make their own decisions and let their record label guide them. No way in hell should they be deciding what type of music Ke$ha makes. If she wants to try something different, let her. It worked for Katy.... "Roar" is her eighth #1 single, and it's very different from her previous stuff, and the general public seems to love it. Honestly, I even think that it's her best song yet. If they would let Ke$ha have more freedom in her music, then she will probably have more success. Honestly, I think she should leave her record label. She's bound to get picked up by another one that is more willing to let her do her own thing.
