She's not pretentious at all. ATRL is just full of stans that aren't used to their faves giving them substance.

I was a huge Gaga fan when she first started, I've seen her 5 times (twice in clubs in Vancouver when she first started out, I got her autograph and a picture with her) and then during BTW is when her personality started to irk me and I didn't love her music anymore.
It's okay for people to find her pretentious and not think everything she does is god sent instead of constantly attacking people for their opinions, considering a lot of the time they could be supporters that are simply just not happy with what they're hearing. You guys stan for an artist who is about love and treating people with respect yet continuously do the exact opposite.
