"Born This Way" was a terrible, dated album, and it reflected in her sales and public interest.
When Lady Gaga starts being internally creative and stops "drawing inspirations" from
established artists, then she has a chance at the public regaining interest in her.
It wasn't as bad as some folk here like to chalk it up to be. It was no Fame/Fame Monster era, but the album still sold incredibly well and the tour was a success. The only slump were really the singles - but even then, it's not as if they all flopped horribly. Most were moderate successes, the only bad apples being MTN and maybe Judas (which was quickly remedied with The Edge of Glory).
Nah, not really. It managed to have more than one successful single, managed to earn a certification, and spawned a successful non-theater tour that did not require a co-headliner.
Hard to say. BTW isn't an album which anyone can listen to and be immediately taken away. It's definitely a grower. The darker single choices like Judas caused a lot of uproar and the music videos for the era were such a down grade from her previous ones. But, I'm a firm believer that she has learned from her lesson, let the Directors to what they do.
in terms of the GP's interest in her, yeah it hurt her. the album was way too specifically catered to her fanbase, so the people who didn't know her outside of her music lost interest.
hopefully she's able to regain the GP's attention and infatuation with ARTPOP
Yes. She lost me as a fan during that era. I couldn't stand her.
But her going away, staying away from the limelight for a while was the best thing she could do. I actually I'm interested what she has to offer now. And I'm sure there are A LOT of people out there who feel the same way I do.
