I don't think that the word "Iconic" is the right word, but are CDs going to be remembered and bought by collectors one day and looked at as something that's vintage and worth buying like Vinyls?

No.

Of course CDs will be remembered. It has only been the main source of music for 20 something years now.

Not by most but I prefer cd's.

If you notice "remembered" wasn't just what I meant, I meant remembered like Vinyls today, where sales don't die and actually increase years after their trend/usage is dead.

Cassettes aren't remembered in a lot of countries, they're only occasionally posted about in those meme pages on FB.
(Although in my country they still use and sell cassettes. )

Vinyl sales did die down for years thanks to newer formats taking over, and yes, I still say CDs will be remembered and purchased years from now. I don't see the CD format being obsolete for years now. It will not go the way of cassette, if that's where you're getting at. People still buy CDs and will continue to.

Vinyl sales did die down, but in 2012 they actually increased for the first time, people are buying Vinyls again because it's now something "cool" and worth having even though they're more expensive than CDs.

I think that one of the biggest reasons that vinyls are still popular is that the quality is better--even if only by a small extent. CDs are not that much higher quality than MP3s considering the fact that if you import the CD to your iTunes library you are limited to the same kbps as the downloads you can get off the iTunes store.

Doesn't that depend on the content creators though? People started buying vinyls because some popular artists put their new CDs out in vinyl like gaga with btw or more recently daft punk with ram. Or was it the other way around? Maybe it's a result of the whole hipster trend...

I think most people buying them are concerned about quality and more about it looking cool and vintage.

No. I don't know how you're ripping your CDs but I'm getting 1536 kbps out of them compared to iTunes' 256 kbps. Totally worth it.

A lot of artists put out their music in Vinyl records (including the biggest ones like Gaga and Taylor) but Vinyl sales can't be increasing cause artists today released them, cause the label would have to make sure that it WOULD sell, hence Vinyls are way more expensive to make.

But again, artists releasing on Vinyl format could have helped too, but not first.

Not true. CD quality is superior, and you must remember every time you play a vinyl you destroy it. Not to mention it takes a lot of work to keep it in good shape. Also consider the fact that a vinyl will never be produced perfectly every time so there will be pops and scratches. A CD will be perfectly created and produce the original sound every time.
