Facebook is wonderful to catch up on old friends, see pictures of family, and communicate with family across the globe easily, but what teenager wants to do that?
I still use Facebook because it is my way of connecting to my friends and colleagues. It has decreased in popularity, but it is still very much popular. It is very significant because it can be a tool in expanding your network.
I also use Twitter but I don't really find it significant. I can live without it. All you do is tweet whatever you want to. It really does not add anything else. Instagram is okay, I use it to share my photos, but that's it. I don't think it'll be as significant next year as it is today.
I never used Tumblr, I think it's like a stylized Friendster. It's too confusing.
i haven't really used FB in over a year, too many farmville requests and obscure family members trying to add me to my birthdays or something, plus my stepmom would always haunt my timeline and judge it, idhtt
I love how people here act like Facebook is suddenly over.
Hate Facebook or not, there is no other place where you can IM your friends, private message, organize all of your photo albums, share photos and statuses and customize you profile all in one site.
I love using tumblr and twitter and instagram to post things I wouldn't normally post on Facebook, but at the end of the day, Facebook is so convenient for staying in touch with family that lives far away (including my mother), friends that have moved for college or even friends that live nearby.
And you all will deal. Maybe Facebook isn't "hip" and "new", but it's going to take a couple to a few more years still (if that) for it to really decline to the pits.
facebook isnt cool anymore cuase all my family added me and i couldnt be FREE!!! lol so i decativated it and got instagram and now some of them follow me their too ;( but i have a tumblr now thats G4L!!
I basically used to share my pictures to those who doesn't own Instagram and to talk in the Facebook chat. I don't add any family member and I haven't posted a status since 2011 I think.
Girl FB been dead since 2011, 2 years too late FB has been on the decline ever since they kept changing the site and now it's just a mess.
Tumblr, Twitter & Instagram are "in" atm, Tumblr & Twitter will be around for awhile, Instagram will die out sometime from late this year/sometime next year IMO when some new social website comes along
I hate the fact that EVERYONE has to find out whenever you like/comment anything, it's annoying. I can't even do anything on Facebook without feeling uncomfortable about others knowing about it. I just lurk and chat, nothing more.
I still use Facebook. It's the easiest means of communication at work.

Office mate: No.
Me: Deadline is today asshole
Office mate: K. Scan it and give it to me
Me: No. Go here and stop being a sloth
I agree that it really isn't 'cool' anymore, but I still use it. I don't use it as much as I did one or two years ago. It's alright. A lot of the pages I like actually post really funny photos.
I've had Tumblr since 2010. Back then there were like two other people I knew who had it.
Facebook was the big thing. Oh how times have changed. It's like MySpace all over.
I genuinely believe there is underlying backlash against information-heavy social media in general.
People are tired of having to document and share every bit of there lives to their family & friends.
Twitter/Tumblr has capitalised on this as it allows for the GP to continue their obsession with self-promotion/narcissism but with strangers instead of people close to you.
Facebook, for me, is nothing more than a convenient messaging service. And this will be the case for most users over the coming years.
