Also this article is specifically on the most important group --teens, who are decreasing in numbers on Facebook.
I can argue that the numbers are older adults who are slow to move from these type of things, since it doesn't say who they are.

Social networking is here to stay and unless something more useful and complete than Facebook arrives it will be the main Social network site, as some time MySpace was.
Neither Twitter, Tumblr, nor Instagram mean to replace Facebook, their funcionality is way different and both work completely fine to complement your social network needs. As in you go to this forum to talk about music, or twitter to follow a special group of friends or Tumblr where you can express yourself freely. All those complementary social networks work simultaneously fine, so there's no need to say one will replace the other.
As in anything, social networks like Facebook are in early stages to be honest. It's a system that not started with Facebook, have you heard of Friendster, hi5? And you know Myspace. Those and more are the beginnings of social networks and they were even more unsatisfactory to use back then.
I guess right now, Facebook is in a transitional state where as in the evolution of the phone, there are stages where there are difficulties. Now it's the spam, problems with friends and family, breakups caused by facebook pictures, etc.
Facebook is to social networks what Windows is for operative systems, remember Windows Millennium? For some this may be the Windows Millennium stage, where some seem to be bothered with it, but maybe it will improve on the next update. Definitely the people at Facebook are taking notes of all the complaints people have and probably on the next update they will try to address them.
Who knows? The main point here is that the fact of having an online profile where you connect with family (for some) and friends is here to stay. Totally.
