At one point Facebook was probably "cool". But now, it's more that literally almost everyone has a Facebook. It can't be an "it" thing because it now has all of the people that could possibly interested in it. Right now, it is an extremely great way to stay in contact with your friends. I see Facebook staying around for 5-10 more years and staying at the same popularity or almost the same popularity without decreasing much tbh.
The only thing about fads changing is, don't people get sick of re-following their friends every time a new app or website comes out?
And for me, Instagram and Snapchat (although this seems like it will be a very short fad) are on top, but I only used Tumblr in 2010/11 and got so bored with it so fast so I'm not going back there. I still use Facebook but it's so stupid now.
Facebook has gone to the pits. It's crammed with all these horrible "funny pics" and memes. And now all those pages we all "liked" a few years ago with the witty sayings have pics of teen white girls as avis and it's just all so annoying now.

Why afraid of parents and relatives on FB? You have PM and hide feature for every status or picture you share.
That's the problem. You see even if you restrict things, they still can get to those people. Facebook has yet to fix this.
Have you read the story of Mark's sister, who had a private photo for only family, an people who were not meant to see it saw it? All it takes is one person. Facebook is too "real", there is no shield and that's the issue. People want privacy and a way to express themselves.

I agree! My Mom is the main reason my twitter is friggin' ****ty and dirty! I can barely post stuff I want on Facebook without my Mom complaining and dragging me (which is why I blocked her from viewing my statuses).
Facebook was the **** though in 2011. My statuses always got a huge amount of likes on them during that year!
Twitter is awesome. I need to download an Instagram app for my desktop though.
I've hated facebook since like 2010 which was like only a year after I got it because my friends kinda made me even tho I didn't want to. I can't even remember the last time I was on it But yeah now they'e taken tumblr. as long as they stay away from twitter and atrl, idc.
It sucks, it's full of bugs and it just isn't what it used to be. Twitter is much better, it's easier to use, reaches more people and is more practical, it has everything Facebook lacks. Instagram is good too, but I'm not a fan of pictures so I don't use it that much.
