I was thinking about this earlier. I've seen users here who have 3,000+ posts who I've never seen before (or if I have seen them before, I don't remember it because they don't have a recognizable/memorable avatar or user name). However, there are people who only have like 500 post, but I recognize them immediately because they have memorable avatars.

So, is having a good/unique avatar necessary in becoming a "relevant" ATRLer?

It could be that you will be remember posters you have seen the most. Often if some one will post in the 'charts' section and another person will post in the 'games' section, they won't come into contact with each other. Now, if two other posters posted a lot in 'base', they will more likely see and remember each others posts (even if they don't post that much) .

The cooler your avi is, the more likely you will be recognized.
