Was 'Born This Way', in actuality, a brilliant first single?
What are your thoughts on this complete mess? I just re-listened to it and... in alot of ways, it's actually surprisingly awful + great... like, she had to have known what she was doing by releasing it.
I don't really care whether it was a good first single based on quality.
But, like Gaga said, why waste the huge attention a highly-anticipated first single has on some song about getting wasted and being at a club, when you can use it to get a message across?
Born This Way's IMPACT was huge. It really will be one of Gaga's defining songs, and thousands of gay kids were seriously helped by the message and the song.
She might've had a better era starting with another song, but only stans care about eras. History cares about impact.
It's a good song. It obviously wasn't as good of a lead single as Just Dance or Bad Romance, but she could have released literally any song as a lead single and it would have went #1. Do you all remember the amount of hype leading up to that song?
