Poll: Is talent really subjective?

This is something i'm seeing more and more on ATRL. People are saying "talent is subjective" when their faves are called talentless. But do you think it's true?

Personally i don't. It's not really hard to see talent when you see it, doesn't matter if it's vocals, dancing, songwriting, producing,... You can easily see it. I mean i don't think anyone would seriously call artists like Beyonce or P!nk talentless, their talent is so obvious.

What's your opinion about it? Do you think it's true or is it just an excuse? And why? Discuss.

Only to a certain extent. Sometimes it's glaringly obvious when people in the music industry have nothing to offer.

Yes. I personally think The 5 years Gaga has been out is more talented than Madonna's first 5 years, but there are people who disagree.

I liked Gaga's vocals and dancing better but if someone else liked Madge's better than its their opinion

Taste is, however.

You can 'hate' lets say...Whitney's voice but you can't deny she was a talented vocalist.

Of course it is. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That's why there are some people who think Bob Dylan is one of of the Top 10 voices of all time, but Mariah Carey is only like #80

No it isn't. Talent is talent. You have it or you don't.
But personal taste is a whole different thing.

It is pretty clear if a person has talent or not. If you are doing something anyone can do, without hard work, then you are talentless, in the given criteria. Hard work, however, can trump talent. Some singers are not talented dancers, but if they work hard enough, they could surpass people who are actually "talented" in dancing, because they can get better and better.

Talent is what gets you in the door, hard work is what keeps you there.
Well that is how it should be anyway.

Slightly. People see different qualities in everything.

There's always someone who loves an artist, and sees them as talented.
You can always calculate on their range and whatnot, but someone will like them because they're atleast doing something right.

what is a talent is subjective, even tho it should be objective. some people would find an average singer more talented than a really good dancer because they find singing a ~bigger~ talent. so it's tricky
