The only musical acts that "peaked" higher than them were guns n roses and pearl jam in the 90s in the U.S, and the beatles in the 60s, and zeppelin in the 70s . That is some relative musical information for you.

And obviously Michael Jackson in the 80s.
Even out of those, the only ones that had a bigger craze were The Beatles.
N*Sync were local though.....Backstreet Boys were WAY bigger on a worldwide level (what counts, America is not the centre of the world) and yes, much much bigger than Taylor Swift.
Oh then yea. I agree with that, cause Guns n Roses and Pearl Jam were more local, and the former decided to split at theyre peak while the later decided to tear down their own fame.
I agree with Greasy, NSync was more local than BSB, they were a worldwide phenomenon. The only thing that prevents these boy bands from reaching farther was that they didn't write most of their songs. Aside from the dying of 90s pop and the boy band craze. From those bands, the only member that did well solo is the most talented one.
Those boybands had more impact outside of the U.S., and all of their products were selling. But I prefer to have Taylor's career and level of respect, tbh. Taylor is like the female Garth Brooks of her time. Hopefully, she doesn't give up like Brooks did.

She ain't stopping until she's scalped every artist short of Michael Jackson.

lol but seriously, with the amount of sales that he had, it didnt surprise me that he did. He probably got bored.
