nope, even with a $125M budget, it has already flopped with it's embarrassing $24.5M opening. Let along there's still marketing budgets. Only thing could be said is that it's not flopping THAT hard.

Some movie studios include marketing and associated post-production costs in the overall production credit. I wonder if that's the case here.

Deadline.com is predicting it for a 26.5mill opening. So unless word of mouth is severely good,it ain't seeing those 30mil opening you speak off. It got a poor C+ in cinemascore which translate to poor word of mouth.

Sure it may hit big in overseas but let's be real,it's bombing so far in the US. $125 million you are showing as receipt includes ONLY production costing. Add roughly another $100million for marketing and post production costs and you get a hefty amount to recover even before you can hope to earn $1 profit.

You're probably right that it won't make as much as $30M, I was thinking it'll go higher during the weekends.

My point still, the movie could make $60M and still be a success overseas considering movies like this are not the types to flop.

This is how boxoffice revenues works.... half of the boxoffice goes to theaters.

The OP is already decided on thinking this movie is a hit so I won't try to convince otherwise. Ps. I didn't imply the 100million solely on marketing cost. I did add post production cost. 100 million is a common bet for such a big budget movie and I don't see how JasperX's 350-400million as the standard for breakeven is considered "reaching" but ok.

If it does well worldwide it won't be a huge flop. Kinda of like how Ice Age has been kicking major ass despite of the fact that it's not a huge hit in the U.S.

For the U.S. because it's easier to flop in there.

It's not going to be Battleship 2.0, sis. This type of movies have a dedicated fanbase overseas.

Don't you mean to make profit? Breaking even is when the revenue equals the total budget.

This type of film will do well on DVD and Blu-ray, so it'll break even no doubt about it. It just won't be a runaway hit.

The opposite is also true but I'm actually thinking it wouldn't be a big hit just decent enough to make a studio plan a sequel(or maybe not), probably around 200-300M WW is my bet.
